Absztrakt (kivonat)

The aim of this thesis is to examine how movement development affects the overall development of children living with autism. The paper reviews the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder and sensory integration disorder, as well as movement therapy methods used in Hungary, such as Ayres therapy, DSZIT, TSMT, KMT, the Dévény method, and neuro-hydrotherapy. The research was conducted using a questionnaire-based method, where special education teachers and developmental professionals shared their experiences regarding movement development. The study also explored the material and human resources available in institutions, the qualifications of educators, and how these factors influence the implementation of movement therapy. Based on the responses, it can be concluded that sensory-based movement development has a complex and positive impact on the development of children with autism: it supports the improvement of motor coordination, self-regulation, attention, and social and communication skills. The research also highlights that individually tailored, autism-specific movement interventions play a key role in neurological maturation and social integration.
