Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis examines how social support is provided for individuals living with psychiatric disorders within supported housing, focusing on the House of Providence – Domb Home operated by the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service in Zalaapáti. The study highlights key areas including independent living, community integration, and the quality of professional assistance. The theoretical background outlines the historical development of psychiatric care, the process of deinstitutionalization, and the principles of community-based psychiatry. Findings from the questionnaire reveal that residents perceive increased autonomy, safety, and supportive community relationships as the main benefits of supported housing. The interview with the institution’s director further clarifies the professional approach and operational characteristics of the service. The results indicate that improvements in infrastructure, communication, and individualized support could enhance residents’ quality of life. Overall, the research confirms that supported housing plays a significant role in promoting social integration among people with psychiatric disorders, while also requiring continuous professional development and refinement.
