Absztrakt (kivonat)
This thesis explores a closed community of children placed in a specialised child protection institution, focusing specifically on the socialisation challenges, developmental difficulties and social circumstances of young people living in the Zalaegerszeg-Botfa Special Children’s Home. The primary aim of my research was to determine whether the reintegration of young people temporarily raised in such an institution into society can be successful—namely, whether they can effectively transition to the world of education and employment after institutional life, develop a sense of social responsibility and establish a vision for creating a successful life. The research addresses the following key issues: the correlation between disadvantaged socio-cultural background and deviant behaviour, the lack of transmission of constructive values accepted by the majority of society, the impact of educational deficits experienced during childhood on adulthood, and the success and effectiveness of resocialisation tasks in closed institutions. To achieve the research objectives, I employed a quantitative methodology, specifically using a standardised questionnaire targeted at the residents of the Zalaegerszeg Special Children’s Home. The questions covered the young people’s ages in relation to their highest educational attainment, the reasons for their placement in the institution, their opinions on the work of the closed child protection institution and their visions for the future. From the research, I concluded the following: The families of the majority of children placed in closed child protection institutions are characterised by disadvantaged socio-cultural backgrounds. The primary cause of deviant behaviour among the young people stems from a lack of care and affection due to the dysfunctional operation of their families. The effectiveness of special or correctional education is generally negative for the majority of young people leaving such institutions, with most attempts at resocialisation proving unsuccessful.
