The DB9 is popular because it's got an unbelievable amount of modularity and is relatively affordable. You've got designs that fill in the accessorie category either because it either adds functionality when compared to an existing design or it just beats it out in cost. Then there are the impossible to get items. The french famas and the zastava m70 handgun come to mind. The handgun is easy to get but the magazine is impossible. You basically have to buy another one to get another magazine. The famas is is incredibly rare and expensive in the USA but I can print a similar design for a few hundred use. It especially matters for firearms used for carry. Since in a self defense scenario, one jam or weapon failure can cause your life.
