Absztrakt (kivonat)

This study examines the water balance dynamics of an Agroforestry system in Fertőd, Hungary which is a ClimaPannonia experimental site, with a focus on precipitation redistribution, interception and soil water input. This research was done during a seven (7) month period (June 2025 to February 2026) using both field-based monitoring techniques (manual) and meteorological methods (automatic). Water balance components like throughfall, stemflow, effective precipitation, precipitation, and temperature were measured/calculated using throughfall collectors, stemflow collectors, lysimeters, and meteorological stations. Although not discussed in this work, soil moisture and groundwater levels were also monitored to provide more understanding of water movement throughout the system. And to assess the correlations between effectiveness and variables in water transport, data were measured using linear regression models in scatter plots. The results of this study show that small rainfall events occurred more often during the 7 month period but because of canopy and litter interception, these events had little impact on the overall waterflow in the system while moderate and high rainfall events had a significant impact on the systems water flow even though it occurred less frequent. This shows us how interception processes are vital in controlling water availability. The results also highlighted how crown and litter interception play an important role in our soil water input.
