Absztrakt (kivonat)

The aim of this thesis is to examine the possibilities of introducing a relatively unknown sport in Hungary, pickleball, into vocational coach education. The research was conducted at the Sopron Vocational Training Centre’s Technical School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires among students and semi-structured interviews with teachers. The study focused on students’ motivation, their openness to new sports, and their attitudes towards pickleball. The results indicate that most students are open to trying new sports and show a positive attitude towards their inclusion in education. Although awareness of pickleball is not yet widespread, the intention to try it is relatively high. Teachers also showed a supportive professional attitude, provided that the necessary conditions are ensured. The findings suggest that introducing new sports can enhance student motivation and make the learning process more engaging. Furthermore, such innovations may contribute to the methodological renewal of coach education. Based on the results, pickleball could be effectively integrated into the training as a complementary sport. Although the findings are not fully generalizable, they reflect the attitudes of the examined group reliably.
