Absztrakt (kivonat)

Moroccan handicrafts are well known around the world for their unique designs, traditional techniques, and strong cultural identity. Products such as handmade carpets, ceramics, leather goods, metalwork, and textiles reflect centuries of craftsmanship and play an important role in Morocco’s cultural heritage. At the same time, the handicraft sector represents an important source of income and employment for many Moroccan artisans. However, despite the global appreciation for these products, exporting Moroccan handicrafts remains challenging for many local producers. Difficulties such as limited international promotion, high export costs, and strong competition from mass-produced goods can make it difficult for artisans to access foreign markets. The aim of this study is to examine the main challenges and opportunities related to the exportation of Moroccan handicrafts and to explore how local artisans can improve their chances of reaching international markets. The research focuses on understanding the current situation of handicraft exports and identifying practical solutions that could help artisans expand their presence abroad. This study follows a qualitative and descriptive research approach based primarily on secondary data. Information was collected from academic articles, institutional reports, and statistical data related to the Moroccan handicraft sector and international trade. Reports published by organizations such as Maison de l’Artisan and the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy were used to analyze the current situation of Moroccan handicraft exports. In addition, international studies on handicraft industries and export barriers were reviewed to provide a broader understanding of the topic. The results of the research show that Moroccan artisans face several difficulties when trying to export their products. Some of the most common challenges include low visibility in international markets, high transportation and export costs, and limited knowledge of modern marketing tools. Many artisans also work in small workshops with limited financial resources, which can make it harder to compete in the global market. On the other hand, the study also highlights several promising opportunities. The growing global interest in handmade, authentic, and sustainable products creates new possibilities for Moroccan handicrafts. Digital platforms, e commerce websites, and social media can also help artisans promote their products to international customers more easily. Based on these findings, the study suggests several recommendations that could help improve the export performance of Moroccan handicrafts. These include providing training for artisans in digital marketing and export procedures, encouraging collaboration between artisans through cooperatives, and increasing institutional support to simplify export processes. Strengthening promotion strategies and improving access to international markets could significantly enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan handicrafts. Overall, the study shows that Moroccan handicrafts have strong potential in international markets. With better organization, improved marketing strategies, and stronger institutional support, local artisans could increase their exports while continuing to preserve Morocco’s rich cultural traditions.
