This study examines the microhabitat use and spatial ecology of mouflon (Ovis gmelini musimon) in the Bakony Mountains, Hungary, where limited research has been conducted at fine spatial scales. Two female individuals (one adult and one young) were equipped with GPS collars, and their movements were monitored for 1 year with hourly position recordings. The study focused on home range size, habitat use, habitat availability, and habitat preferences, and analyses were performed using the Ecosystem Base-map of Hungary, Minimum Convex Polygon (MCP) and Jacobs’ index to assess preference. Adult mouflons exhibited larger home ranges (3963 ha) than young individuals (2801 ha), with peak expansion in February. The results also show a strong dominance of forest habitats, particularly beech forests, which accounted for over 90% of habitat use throughout most of the year. Seasonal variation was observed, with increased use of agricultural and open habitats during winter. Mouflons distribution was strongly associated with Natura 2000 areas, highlighting the importance of protected habitats. Overall, the findings emphasise the significance of habitat heterogeneity and connectivity for effective mouflon conservation and management
