This thesis, “Assessing the Role of Tourism in Morocco’s Economic Development: Analysis of Regional Disparities in the Tourism Regions”, explores the pivotal role tourism plays in shaping Morocco's national economy and regional development. It provides a decade-long analysis of tourism’s contribution to GDP, job creation, and foreign exchange, particularly highlighting the sector’s resilience before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Special emphasis is placed on examining regional disparities, with a comparative focus on tourism-rich cities like Marrakech and Agadir versus underdeveloped rural areas. The study critically evaluates the effectiveness of government policies—including Vision 2020 and the Tourism Recovery Plan—in fostering sustainable and inclusive tourism. Using a mixed-methods approach that blends statistical data and policy review, the research reveals that while tourism is a robust economic pillar, its benefits are unevenly distributed. The thesis concludes by offering policy recommendations to bridge regional inequalities, promote eco-tourism, and harness tourism as a strategic driver of equitable and long-term economic growth in Morocco.
