Absztrakt (kivonat)

The spread of ragweed has a serious economic impact, affecting agricultural and forestry production, environmental, nature conservation areas and causes damage to healthcare systems. The biggest challenges are continuous monitoring, legal compliance and cross-border cooperation. The "Joint Ambrosia Action" project, launched in 2017, was one such cross-border cooperation between Austria and Hungary to map and control ragweed, with the aim of mapping the dynamics of ragweed infestation and spread, developing control measures based on scientific data and harmonising the Austrian-Hungarian legal framework for ragweed control. An important part of the project was the aerial and field detection of ragweed along the border between the two countries in a 10-10 km distance range. Based on the experience gained, the cooperation was successful and in the spirit of sustainability the project was continued in 2020 - 2021 within the framework of the "Sustainable Ambrosia Management" (SAM) project, which included a questionnaire survey on the health effects of ragweed and the possibilities of preventing ragweed infestation. During the project, I spent my legal internship at the Sopron District Office of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Government Office, so I participated in the summarisation and evaluation of the survey results. As during this time I rather acquired the relevant legislation, I believe that the topic deserves special attention in the field of international management. By presenting the results of the project, I would like to show that the spread of ragweed has a significant impact, directly or indirectly, also on economic resources. The Austrian-Hungarian projects have highlighted the complexity of ragweed pollution and that it is still worthwhile to address ragweed pollution today, as its reduction requires social cooperation.
