Absztrakt (kivonat)

The XXI. by the beginning of the century, money plays an increasingly important role in everyday life. In the today’ age, compared to barter and alternative payment methods, thanks to the development of science and technology, people can buy food, products or services even without physical presence. Briefly summarized, instead of cashless payment, electronic payment methods appeared and spread worldwide. Although these innovations of the XX. have already begun in the 20th century, they have by no means developed to the extent that they did during and after the epidemic situation dominating the world from 2019 to 2021. One of the positive effects of the unfortunate event is that during the emergency, people preferred contactless payment, which led to them resorting to methods such as bank card payments, transfers or even mobile payments using NFC. Of course, as a topic, the attitude and adaptation of each country is different. All of this is greatly influenced by the geographical location, financial situation, and general and payment culture of the given nation. The goal of the European Union is to unify its twenty-seven member states to a certain extent. For this, it is essential to have a general knowledge of the culture, customs and mentality of the given members. In addition, this information can also be useful for some individuals who leave their own country for a short or long-term visit abroad, even just for a trip or for work. In my thesis, I analysed and compared Spanish and Hungarian payment habits based on a self-made questionnaire. The research was based on the answers of mainly young people living in Spain and Hungary. I summarized the most important similarities and differences between the two nations. Based on the answers received, it can be concluded that Hungarian people still prefer cash payment more than once, while a higher percentage of Spanish respondents stated that they use electronic payment instruments more often.
