Absztrakt (kivonat)

This thesis examines consumer preferences in e-commerce and the adoption of digital payments in Cambodia and Hungary, two countries experiencing rapid growth in online commerce and financial technology adoption. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining survey data analysis with literature review to explore the factors influencing consumer behaviors, popular e-commerce platforms, prevalent digital payment methods, and challenges hindering wider adoption in both countries. The analysis reveals statistically significant associations between demographic variables (gender, age, income) and e-commerce usage frequencies, as well as consumer attitudes towards digital payments. While both countries prioritize factors such as convenience, security, and faster transactions, there are slight variations in ranking, reflecting cultural, economic, and regulatory differences. Despite the absence of a statistically significant relationship, a majority of respondents perceive digital payments to be important for e-commerce growth, indicating a potential discrepancy between perception and statistical inference. Limitations include reliance on self-reported data and the cross-sectional design of the study. Future research could employ longitudinal or experimental designs to explore causal relationships and capture changes in consumer preferences over time. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of online commerce and financial technology adoption in Cambodia and Hungary. By addressing these limitations and building on the study's findings, businesses, policymakers, and stakeholders can enhance the development and adoption of digital technologies, fostering economic growth and financial inclusion in both countries.
